Cultural Anthropology Washburn University
About the instructor: I earned my B.A. in social science from University of the Pacific and my Ph.D. in anthropology from Stanford University, then started teaching at Washburn in 1979. My special areas of interest in anthropology are the arts, religion/magic/witchcraft, the hist of theory, and the roles of women and children in culture. I co-edited a book of readings on the arts for Prentice Hall and have published in Dialectical Anthropology, Journal of Marriage and the Family, American Anthropologist, and other professional journals, and have served as Book Review Editor of Anthropology and Humanism. I've done field work in India, Sweden, Spain, France, and several parts of the U.S. I've traveled around the world (incl. Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Italy, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Canada and England) and now live in Topeka with my husband (a sociologist), our son, 16 and our daughter, 13, two dogs and two cats.
