“rode“ by author Thomas Fox Averill is the 2013-2014 academic year book selected for Washburn University's iREAD program. The book “rode“ is Averill's story behind the folk ballad “Tennessee Stud“ and has been named Outstanding Western Novel of 2011 as part of the Western Heritage Awards given each year in Oklahoma City, home of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. “rode“ was also named a Spur Award Finalist by the Western Writers of America.
