Every semester many new training opportunities are available for faculty and staff. All new online faculty are encouraged to complete the two-part training course before teaching online. Special advanced level WebCT Training sessions and special topic sessions are help throughout the year to encourage online faculty to learn more about teaching online and course design.
First time training sessions are called Intro to WebCT. During the first part of the session, online faculty will get to see WebCT from a student perspective and at a small level of designer access. This allows for basic understanding of the tools and terminology of WebCT. The second part consists of an in-depth designer view. Online faculty will learn the fundamentals of creating and teaching an online class. Existing online faculty are encouraged to come to brush up their skills.

Faculty currently or planning to teach online may be interested in Respondus. Respondus is a third party application that allows online instructors to easily manipulate quizzes in WebCT. Some instructors may find a practical use for this software for on campus courses as well. In short, Respondus has an easy to use interface to add, edit, delete, and create quiz questions. With a little formatting old traditional exams can be imported. Respondus can also set up question sets, which allow questions to be randomly selected in WebCT. Perhaps the most powerful feature is the integration Respondus has with WebCT. A "Preview and Publish" tab allows for quizzes and exams to be transferred directly into an online course without entering WebCT.
To find out more benefits and features of Respondus, visit the Faculty Resource Guide and click on the Respondus icon.
