A university is defined by its Library. It provides the ideal and historic location on campus for the occurrence of both reflection and serendipitous learning.
At Washburn University, the two undergraduate and graduate libraries, Mabee and the Curriculum Resources Center, strive to play a central role in creating a positive learning environment for students, faculty, staff and the Topeka and Shawnee community alike. Currently, both locations are showing their age. Changes in both curriculum and technology have caused significant changes in the workload of libraries across the globe. To ensure that the Washburn community has access to all that a 21st Century Library can provide, we need your assistance.
To create and maintain a modern library requires partners. With your assistance, the Washburn Libraries can continue to develop information literacy programs that teach the “You Tube” generation how to use technology for more than just social networking. Likewise, we can purchase the technology products that our communities seek in the library and create the atmosphere for learning that they expect.
Put simply, to create the 21st Century Libraries that the Washburn communities need means that we need your help. The “Caddy Stacks” event is a way, we hope, for you to join our effort in modernizing the Washburn Libraries and its surrounding community while having some fun. Any assistance you can offer is appreciated.
Should you decide to donate a door prize for the Caddy Stacks event, your business will be recognized at the event and your donation will also be acknowledged and tax-deductible. You may take pride in being a good corporate citizen.
Please know that all contributions you make will positively impact Mabee Library and the Washburn University community. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our request.
