Dr. Catherine Hunt

Dr. Catherine Hunt received her BME degree from Millikin University, MA from the University of Iowa, PhD from the University of Nebraska, and Diploma in Voice from The Internationalen Sommerakademie für Music in Salzburg, Austria. She is the Director of Music Education and the Master in Liberal Studies at Washburn. She served as the Kansas Music Educators Association CMENC Co-Advisor for five years and is the Southwestern Division Representative for the Early Childhood Music Special Research Interest Group for the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). Currently, Dr. Hunt is the Editor for the Kansas Music Review.
Dr. Hunt was the Director of the Washburn Women’s Chorus for several years during which the ensemble was selected to perform at the Kansas Music Educators Association In-Service Workshop. Her areas of special interest include early childhood music, vocal health, and the application of 21st Century Skills to music teaching. She has presented at international, national, and state levels and has published in the Journal of Music Teacher Education, Canadian Music Educator, and Kansas Music Review.
