Dr. Kevin Kellim



Kevin KellimDr. Kevin Kellim serves as choral director at Washburn University where he conducts the Washburn Choir, Washburn Singers, Women’s Chorus, and teaches courses in advanced choral conducting and private voice. He received his Bachelor of Education degree from Southwest Baptist University, a Master of Music degree from Kansas State University,  and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Kansas. Under the direction of Dr. Kellim, Washburn choral ensembles have enjoyed many off-campus performances, including those at state music conventions and on regular European tours. The Washburn Choir received an ovation for its solo performance at Carnegie Hall, and performed to enthusiastic audiences throughout South Africa.  In 2010, Dr. Kellim and the Washburn choral ensembles were featured on a KTWU (PBS affiliate) production of Washburn Holiday Vespers, which was televised throughout the state.  The production received a regional Emmy Award nomination in 2011.

Dr. Kellim is serving his 25th season as Music Director of the Topeka Festival Singers, a highly select choir of adult singers from Northeast Kansas, performing a wide selection of choral literature ranging from Bach to Broadway. The Singers performed twice in Europe and were invited to perform at the American Choral Directors Southwest regional convention.

Prior to his doctoral study, Dr. Kellim was the choral director at Topeka West High School for ten years. He is an active conductor and adjudicator of several honor choirs, festivals, music workshops and camps throughout the country. He is also the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church, Topeka, where he conducts the Chancel Choir.
