Kim Krutz
Kim Krutz performed twelve seasons as primary contrabassoonist and bassoonist with the Kansas City Symphony. She currently plays with the Symphony on-call, as well as with the Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, the Kansas City Civic Opera Orchestra, the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, on-call with the Starlight Theatre, and has substituted as contrabassoonist with the St. Louis Symphony. She has also performed with the Sunflower Music Festival Orchestra, the Kansas City Camerata, the Springfield (Illinois and Missouri) Symphonies, and five seasons with the Missouri Symphony Society based in Columbia, Missouri - one of these seasons as principal bassoonist.
Besides being a featured soloist in and around the Kansas City area, Mrs. Krutz is the bassoonist with the Mariah Winds Trio. With this group she has performed in recital at the International Double Reed Society convention in Tempe, Arizona, the International Clarinet Society convention in Lubbock, Texas, and at the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium. A Participant in masterclasses with Kenneth Munday, Milan Turkovic, Charles Ullery, Loren Glickman at the Glick-Popkin Bassoon Camp in North Carolina, Richard Svoboda; Kim studied with Howard Halgadahl, Alan Hawkins, and Marita Abner. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas (BME in Music Education with minor in Bassoon Performance) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (MM in Bassoon Performance)
