Academic Scholarship Awarding Policy
The Washburn University Academic Scholarship Application must be completed each year before the February 15th deadline by all scholarship recipients.
Incoming FRESHMAN and TRANSFER students who were originally awarded academic and other scholarships by the Admissions Office will be renewed at their original Academic Scholarship award, if they completed 75% of all original hours, maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA, and completed the Washburn University Academic Scholarship Application.
Washburn CONTINUING students who have not been previously awarded an academic scholarship are eligible for an academic scholarship by having a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and be enrolled for full time hours (12 hours or more).
Only undergraduate students working on their first baccalaureate degree are considered eligible for Washburn University Academic Scholarships. Recipients will be limited to eight (8) semesters.
2+2 PLAN and Consortium students must be enrolled in full time Washburn hours to be considered for any Washburn University scholarships.
Students who leave Washburn University in satisfactory standing and return more than two semesters later, must fill out the Academic Scholarship Application. (Students will be awarded at the same academic scholarship dollar level as previously received at Washburn.) Transcripts from any school work after leaving Washburn University will need to show that the student’s cumulative GPA is a 3.0 or above. Students will only be eligible to receive an Academic Scholarship and are not eligible to receive the Garvey, Valedictorian, Shaw, Presidential, Wiseman or Washburn Recognition Scholarship.
