Lauren has been very involved at Washburn as an editor and writer for the Washburn Review, a Student Orientation Counselor and a member of the Future Alumni Network, Bod Squad, Alpha Lambda Delta and the Washburn Cheer Squad.
Lauren was recently initiated as a new member of Mortar Board Honor Society and elected to the officer position of Director of Communications for that group. She was also recently awarded the True Blue Bod SOAR award for her spirit and love of Washburn.
Lauren has been an anchor to the success of the Leadership Institute for the last three years. She completed her LE 300 Change Project with the National MS Society, where she sold the majority of 500 tickets to host MS Nite with the Topeka RoadRunners hockey team. She has served as the Student Director of K-12 Development for the last year. Her team began by researching and came up with various programs the Institute will be able to host for young students. She also helped organize Captain's Camp, where the Leadership Institute partnered with the women's soccer team to host a camp for young captains in Topeka. Lauren's team has also partnered with Highland Park High School to give lessons on leadership to their students.
Lauren was also recently named the first Leadership Institute Fellow. This award is given to a student who embodies the Leadership Institute's mission and who has dedicated themselves to the study and practice of leadership during their time at Washburn.
"The Leadership Institute has had an incredible impact on my Washburn experience. I owe a lot of my confidence and enthusiasm to opportunities within the LI that have helped me hone in on what I'm passionate about. It has been a phenomenal experience," Lauren said.
