Leadership Student of the Month - October 2009
Garrett Love
For those of you who do not know, Garrett Love is Washburn's Student Body President. When meeting with President Love I could see the passion and drive in his eyes; the motivation to better the college experience for everyone. He is incredibly genuine, with big plans for his future. Love is a senior majoring in Economics, Management and Finance. He plans to continue on to graduate school or possibly law school.
While Love got a late start in the Leadership Institute, he plans on getting as much out of this program as he can. One of the greatest lessons he has learned through the LE 100 class has been how to evaluate his own leadership style and incorporate his personal leadership values and management style into his leadership roles in various campus activities. LE 100 is one of Love's favorite classes while at Washburn.
In addition to being the President of WSGA, Love is involved with many student and community organizations such as Christian Challenge, Student Athlete Advisory Counsel, and the Heartland Visioning Steering Committee, among many others.
Love feels that the Leadership Institute is great asset for students interested in learning more about leadership and is eager to see how the program will continue to develop over the next few years.
"Jeff and Jaci are very approachable and great to talk to, which makes it so easy to get involved," Love said.
Love is a strong leader dedicated to his personal leadership development and improving the overall Washburn experience. We wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors.
