Leadership Inspiration
Once a leadership student is on campus, the Washburn Leadership Experience focuses on the growth of the Washburn leader as experienced through four steps of leader development (phase 2-5 of the Washburn Leadership Experience). The fourth step of this experience is focused on Leadership Inspiration.
Leadership Inspiration is designed to prepare leadership students for their futures beyond Washburn. Utilizing all they have learned about leaders and leadership, students will put this into action in a capstone practicum in the form of a leadership internship (LE 400). Leadership students will also involve themselves in the formal responsibility of developing other leaders of the future by acting as mentors, guides and leaders for those students that follow. Students will also participate in a Leadership Inspiration workshop during the course of this phase. The workshop in this phase will produce opportunities to learn, network and establish mentoring relationships in their field or profession of choice. Leadership experiences in this phase will prepare the leadership student to make an immediate difference as a leader after they have left Washburn, regardless of role, location or responsibilities.
Other leadership activities are offered as students progress through all phases of the Washburn Leadership Experience. These include speakers, conferences, round-tables and other value-added experiences.
