Welcome to Washburn! The Residential Living Staff and hundreds of volunteers from across campus help you move into your new on-campus home. Check-in starts at 9:00 AM and continues all day.
4:00 PM, Andrew J. & Georgia Neese Gray Theatre
This all-campus welcome is the best way to begin your Washburn experience. Convocation is a Washburn tradition featuring Dr. Jerry Farley, Washburn's esteemed president, and Washburn Student Government Association's newly elected President Caley Onek.
5:00 PM, Memorial Union lawn
It is time to enjoy some summer staples! Join fellow students, faculty, and staff for an evening picnic. For only $5, you can enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs, and a cold drink in the shade.

Let's get this party started right! Come meet your new best friends at WU and have a great time! Playfair will be hosting an entertainment event that will get you excited to be the newest Ichabods. This is where it all begins so come be a part of our campus unity and school spirit!
7:30 PM, Student Recreation and Wellness Center (Bring your student ID!)
Check out the Student Recreation and Wellness Center and come away with some Free Stuff. Participate in the Fitness Frenzy (group exercise demonstration), knock-out basketball shooting contest, volleyball serve, rock climbing and other activities. The first 30 people to participate in the Fitness Frenzy, and the first 20 people to climb the rock wall will receive a free SRWC t-shirt, so don't be late! We recommend you dress for success, comfy clothes and tennis shoes. Don't forget your ID!
Residential Living Hall Meetings

Each Resident Assistant (RA) will host a mandatory hall meeting for all the residents on their hall. In addition to discussing hall and university policies, this is an excellent time to meet your new neighbors! Each RA will provide more information about their hall meeting when you check-in.

Get Moving! Join other members of the Washburn community interested in exercise for a 20-30 minute morning walk or run. Group leaders will be ready to lead you on a walk/run near the Washburn campus at the pace you desire. All ability levels welcomed and encouraged!

This is a great oppurtunity to get to know campus and tie up loose ends before classes begin. Need to visit the Financial Aid office or buy you books? Stop over at the Memorial Union and we'll give you a personal escort. There will be several orientation leaders leaving at 15 and 30 minute intervals to provide class schedule tours.

Your new Washburn family and friends will be heading to the North Union porch for the first Scorch on the Porch of the year! Grab a great meal for $5, shop the Bookstore sidewalk sale, and listen to terrific music. Always a fantastic time!

The Memorial Union lawn will be turned into WU's own Festival of FUN! There will be fun games, good music, great food and representatives from a variety of Washburn's student organizations. There will also be some great giveaways! Be ready for a great time!
