Recent acquisions and donations since January 2008:
The Mulvane Art Museum purchased six works of art in 2008.
One bronze Untitled sculpture by Gustavo Beckelmann and four aquatints by Alicia Vega titled Sintesis I, II, III, and IV were purchased by the Mulvane Art Museum.
A mixed media and collage piece titled Blue Collar Self Portrait, 2007, by Daniel Billen was purchased as part of the Annual Charles & Margaret Pollak Award.
We are pleased to accept a large number of donations so far in 2008.
A drawing titled Map: The Fifty-Third View (1987) by Barbara Waterman-Peters, and a drawing titled Sculpture Study-Three Angels (1984) by Robert A. Nelson were donated by Barbara Waterman-Peters and Larry Peters.
36 photographs by various contemporary artists were donated by The Society for Contemporary Photography in Kansas City. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of art distributed the works on behalf of the Society.
The Topeka Branch of the National League of American Pen Women donated a mixed media and porcelain sculpture by art student Katya Strakhova titled Elan Vital to the museum.
Two photographs by Tom Esser titled #1 Nature and #2 Nature were donated by John and Lynette Hunter.
One collage titled Study for First Stage by George Soppelsa was donated by Dr. Robert and Betty Soppelsa. One catalogue titled The Works of George Soppelsa was also donated.
One untitled landscape acrylic painting on board by artist John W. Bashor was donated by Thomas & Nancy Laster.
One etching and aquatint by Francisco Goya from Los Caprichos series titled Quien mas rendido? was donated by William Ansley.
The Friends of the Mulvane Art Museum, Inc. Women’s Board donated three works of art purchased from the Mulvane Mountain/Plains Art Fair. They are: a tooled and painted metal painting titled After Image by Michael Bruckdorfer, an untitled wood vessel by Ken Nelsen, and an untitled acrylic painting by Jim Rigg.
Three plaster of paris casts of rock carving (petroglyphs) were donated by Thomas A. Witty.
