Dr. Tom Morgan is an Associate Professor of Music and the Director of Percussion Studies at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. With a Master’s Degree in Music Theory and Composition (University of Northern Colorado), and a Doctorate in Percussion Performance (University of Oklahoma), Dr. Morgan’s teaching duties include applied percussion, percussion ensemble, and music theory. He also has a large private percussion studio that includes elementary and secondary students from the surrounding region. His three percussion method books, A Sequential Approach to Fundamental Snare Drum, A Sequential Approach to Rudimental Snare Drum, and The Jazz Drummer’s Reading Workbook, are published by C. Alan Publications. He also has published works for jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, and solo percussion. Dr. Morgan is very active as a performer in the Kansas City Area. He has performed and/or recorded with The Trilogy Big Band, The Boulevard Big Band, The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, The Kansas City Symphony Orchestra, and a wide variety of other musical settings. He regularly presents clinics at high schools and colleges throughout the region.
