In celebration of the 2012 Chinese New Year (of the Dragon) the Kansas City Chinese Music Ensemble will perform a tradition musical presentation at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 in Garvey Fine Arts Center, room 143. The performance is free and open to the public.
The Kansas City Chinese Music Ensemble was founded in 1999 by a group of citizens, who are originally from China and living in the Greater Kansas City area. Some ensemble members are professionally trained musicians, others are amateurs. They use traditional Chinese music instruments to play traditional and folk music from China. The group has been performing for communities in Kansas City and its neighboring areas including St. Louis, Des Moines, and Columbia, Mo.
The international programs office is sponsoring the performance.
