During the summer months, Washburn University decided it was appropriate to change the name of the Washburn Bookstore to more accurately describe everything the store has to offer. Effective Aug. 1, the bookstore will be known as the Ichabod Shop, in an effort to meet the ever changing needs of Washburn’s campus and reflect the advancement of technology and decreasing textbook sales. With books no longer the dominate product sold, it was decided a new name was needed to keep up with the changing times and capture the essence of what the store was really about.
“We have been serving the university for over a century now and have seen a lot of changes. We will continue to transform as our learning and instructing methods change,” said Kay Farley, director, Ichabod Shop.
The Ichabod Shop, using a progressive business strategy, provides the Washburn community with necessary and supplemental merchandise to enhance the learning experience at Washburn. It strives to exceed customer’s expectations by serving as an indispensable academic resource and a leader in the industry and the community.
