Beatty spent a week in Taiwan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will report on how Taiwan thrives amidst its unique international status. Although not recognized by the United States as a country, Taiwan has been able to not only survive as a counter to mainland China, but in recent years has found a way to build its democratic state while also forging new and unprecedented ties to China.
