What if the South had won the Civil War? That is the provocative question Kevin Willmott, Lawrence, Kan. filmmaker and assistant professor, film and media studies, University of Kansas, asks in his mockumentary, “CSA: The Confederate States of America,” which will be shown at at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10 in room 207, Henderson Learning and Resources Center, Washburn University. A discussion will follow the film screening, let by Kelly Erby, assistant professor, history, Washburn University. The screening is free and open to the public.
The film depicts a post-Civil War America dominated by a racist government – a Confederate States of America. It was selected to for the 2004 Sundance Film festival and was distributed by IFC Films. The film was also a Spike Lee presentation and was released in theaters in February 2006.
The screening is sponsored by Washburn’s Phi Alpha Theta history honorary society.
