Giving Trees: Make the holiday brighter for children

Assist area children and their families in need during the holidays with a visit to the 10th Annual Giving Tree Project, Share the Spirit, from now through noon Wednesday, Dec. 7 at locations on or near the Washburn University campus.

Participants visit one of the trees, select a tag and purchase the gift request. They then return the unwrapped gift(s) with the angel tags attached to the tree location by noon Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The trees are at the Catholic Campus Center, 17th and Jewell; Campus Ministry at Washburn,1621 SW Boswell; multicultural affairs office, room 110, Morgan Hall; Living Learning Center lobby, 1801 SW Jewell; Washburn Student Government Association, lower level, Memorial Union; and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority house, 1845 SW Jewell.

Catholic Campus Center, 17th Street and Jewel Avenue; International House; Leadership Institute, Benton Hall; Radiology Department, Benton Hall; Residential Living; School of Nursing, Petro Allied Health Center; Student Recreation and Wellness Center, and the Washburn Student Government Association office, lower level, Memorial Union.

The gifts will be donated to Doorstep, Let’s Help and the Topeka Rescue Mission. The Giving Tree project was developed in 2002 by the Catholic Campus Center at Washburn to benefit children newborn through age 13 who are in need during the holidays.
