Jackson Heights student wins award at high school art event at Washburn

Lauren Rogers, a student at Jackson Heights High School, won a second place award for "Fox Glove," a painting she submitted at the annual Washburn University High School Art Day on Nov. 16.

The painting is among other works submitted by high school students exhibited through Nov. 22 at the art building on the Washburn campus.

A total of 150 students from 13 high schools had the opportunity to home their talents in photography, paintings, digital imaging and sculpture by attending several of the 41 workshops offered.
