In honor of veterans who have served and those who still serve in our nation’s armed forces, at the 25 Annual Veterans Day Observance at 11:40 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the Vietnam Veterans memorial site (located at the southeast side of Morgan Hall), Washburn University campus. The event is free and open to the public.
The ceremony will honor and remember veterans who have served and those who still serve in our nation’s armed forces. Program features: Cleansing and blessing of Vietnam memorial site by Standing Bear Intertribal Brotherhood, memorial balloon release for Agent Orange victims, formal ceremony with Bell Toll, posting of Colors by Highland Park High School Junior AFROTC, guest speaker Major General Thomas Romig, veteran tribute with Bagpipes and wreath presentation, taps with echo.
A reception located in Carol Chapel will follow the ceremony. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be relocated to the lobby, White Concert Hall, Garvey Fine Arts Center.
