Spreading Hope is theme of 2013 Giving Tree Project

Add new cheer to the holiday season for area children and their families by participating in “Spreading Hope,” the annual Giving Tree Project sponsored by the Catholic Campus Center.

Persons with Santa-like sentiment are asked to visit one of the Giving Tree locations, which are near the Washburn campus, select a tag, shop for the requested item and return with a new and unwrapped gift or gifts before noon Friday, Dec. 6.

In addition to the Giving Tree at Catholic Campus Center at Washburn, 17th and Jewell, Trees are on campus at the International House; School of Nursing, Petro Allied Health Center; Student Recreation and Wellness Center; Zeta Tau Alpha sorority house, 1845 SW Jewell; and offices of the radiology department and physical therapy department, Benton Hall; residential living, Living Learning Center; and Washburn Student Government Association, lower level, Memorial Union.

The gifts will be donated to Doorstep, Let’s Help and the Topeka Rescue Mission. The Giving Tree project was developed in 2002 by the Catholic Campus Center at Washburn to benefit children newborn through age 13 who are in need during the holidays. For more information, contact Patti Lyon or Heather Jurgensmeier at 233-2204 or email, with Giving Tree on the subject line.
