“Economics and Free Enterprise,” will be discussed by Ernie Goss, Jack K. MacAllister Chair in Residence Economics, Professor of Economics, Creighton University and director, Goss Institute, Denver, Colo. at the Washburn University School of Business Lecture Series at 7:30 a.m. in Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center, Washburn campus. Breakfast will be served and the event is free and open to the public.
Goss was a visiting scholar with the Congressional Budget Office in 2003-04. He also is a past faculty research fellow with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). He has published more than 100 research studies focusing on forecasting and business and economic data. Goss has authored “Changing Attitudes Toward Economic Reform During the Yeltsin Era” and “Governing Fortune: Casino Gambling in America.” He serves as editor of “Economic Trends,” an economics newsletter published monthly and is distributed to more than 9,500 subscribers. To gauge regional economic conditions, Goss conducts a monthly survey of bank CEOs in rural areas of 10 states and a monthly survey of supply managers in 12 states. Results from the two surveys appear in more than 100 newspapers and scores of other media outlets each month. Recent citations have appeared in the Denver Post, the Kansas City Star and the Minneapolis Pioneer Press. In 2002, Goss appeared on CNN, Fox Business News, National Public Television and BBC.
