A century of sisterhood will be celebrated April 10-12 when members of Alpha Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority gather at a variety of events to observe their 100th anniversary.
To mark the event which is themed “Kite Strings and Heart Strings – Ties That Bind,” the 1964 Alpha Upsilon initiates will host the grand celebration. The chapter was established in 1914 at Washburn University.

Other centennial events will take place April 10 and 12 in Kansas City, Mo. Approximately 200 alumni are expected to participate in events during the three day observation. All Thetas are welcome to attend, regardless of chapter affiliations.
Several of the 1914 founding members were pioneers and leaders in their professions and include Jessie Wright Whitcomb, attorney and author; Margaret Mulvane Morgan, Washburn benefactor; and Frances Storrs Johnston, a physician who is credited with authoring the Washburn alma mater.
