Schmidt holds several degrees including Master of Business Administration, bachelor’s degrees in computer science and management computer information systems, as well as associate degrees in electronic engineering technology and avionic systems technology. He also has had more than 2,000 hours of training in electronics and completed management and advanced management training.

Dan is currently a member of Leadership Washburn. Prior to his education career, he served 21 years in the United States Air Force and became a world traveler, spending time in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Europe. His final position with the USAF was quality assurance manager over four squadrons of F-16 aircraft in South Korea. Among his many awards and achievements:

Dan Schmidt had been with Washburn University for 10 years before coming to Washburn Tech in 2010. He still serves as an adjunct instructor in Washburn’s School of Business. Dan also has taught classes at the following institutions: Baker University, Friends University, Highland Community College and Education America, formerly Topeka Technical College.
