Academic History

Dr. Waters practiced as a licensed psychologist before joining the faculty in the Human Services department. Her professional experience included working in medical settings with children who had suffered traumatic brain injuries, strokes, cancer, and other severe neurological illnesses. She also worked with children with a variety of disabilities in early childhood and public school settings, with a special emphasis on autism spectrum disorders. Finally, she did clinical work with families of young children with behavior problems.

Service Interests/Activities

Dr. Waters serves on various committees, including the Institutional Review Board, Scholarly/Creative WTE Grant Committee, and Graduate Committee.  She has been a reviewer of presentation proposals for professional conferences.  Community service activities have included mentorship programs for at risk youth and working with parents to improve their children's reading skills.

Dr. Waters' background is as a licensed psychologist working with children and families in hospitals, clinics, and schools. I love bringing my experiences into the classroom setting and working with students from all backgrounds.
