Career Accomplishments
Dr. Pischnotte is the Adjunct Instructor of Saxophone at Washburn University where he teaches applied saxophone lessons and directs saxophone quartets. He joined the faculty in 2016 after completing his Doctor of Musical Arts in saxophone performance at the University of Kansas. While at KU, he served as a teacher’s assistant in the jazz department and won two Downbeat awards as a member of Jazz Ensemble I. Since graduating, he has been active as a performer and educator in Kansas City area. He has wide-ranging musical interests and frequently performs in jazz, rock, free improvisation, and musical theater settings. He can be heard weekly in Kansas City as a member of the soul jazz group Chris Hazelton’s Boogaloo 7. As a classical saxophonist, he recently performed and presented a lecture on the saxophone music of Jacob Ter Veldhuis at the North American Saxophone Alliance Region III Conference in 2017. He currently lives in Lawrence, KS where he runs a private studio out of his home.
