Student Health Services

All Washburn University students are eligible to visit Student Health Services free-of-charge with a valid WU ID.  No appointment is necessary with the exception of pre-participation physicals, well woman exams and evaluation for ADD/ADHD. There is a fee for laboratory testing (including PAP), X-rays, immunizations, TB testing and prescription medications.  Services include:

• Urgent care for illness and injury
• Primary care for chronic stable conditions
• Pre-participation physical exams (Sports, Nursing, Allied Health, Study Abroad)
• Well woman exams
• Sexually transmitted infection treatment
• Diagnosis and care of emotional problems
• Immunizations including meningitis immunizations (Required of all students living on campus). Download forms here

• Patient assistance program for prescriptions
• Health education
• Referrals to community resources when necessary (at student expense) 

Emergency Services 

In the event that medical attention is needed after Student Health Services hours, students should seek care with their primary care provider or at an area emergency department or urgent care center.  Click here for a listing of local emergency and urgent care centers in Topeka

Student Health Insurance  

Information for student health insurance is available in our office and the Dean of Students Office (Morgan Hall, Room 104). Purchase of the health insurance plan is optional and is not required for visits to the Student Health Center; however, given the potentially astronomical cost of medical care it is strongly recommended.  To download the brochure, click here
