Dave Provorse, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Chair, Dept. of Psychology.
Dr. Provorse received his B.A. in Psychology (1982) from Midland Lutheran
College in Fremont, Nebraska, and his M.A. (1987) and Ph.D. (1996)
in
Clinical Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition
to the Theories of Personality course taught within the Plan 2+2
program, Dr. Provorse also teaches Introductory, Abnormal and Community
Psychology course at the undergraduate level, and courses on Theories
of Psychotherapy, Therapy Techniques, and Ethics and Diversity at
the
graduate level. His research interests include Domestic Violence Prevention
and Rural Psychology, and his clinical interests include the treatment
of
Depression using Interpersonal, Cognitive and Brief Therapy models.
His
interest in Sport Psychology is supported by his participation in
"endurance
athletics" (marathon running and triathlons) and his offering
of a
Marathon Training course each spring semester at Washburn.
