About Us: Fellows Biography

Ron Wasserstein, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Statistics, is a transplanted Kansan. The son of Air Force parents, he lived in several other states and in Europe before settling here in 1972. Educated at Washburn University (BA Mathematics) and at Kansas State University (MS, PhD Statistics), Ron has been a member of the Washburn faculty since 1984, and in his current position since 1992. He says his connection with Kansas Studies is due to his involvement with state tax policy as a consultant to the Kansas Department of Revenue, his other consulting roles with various federal, state and local agencies, and his membership on several civic group boards. The truth is, however, that he likes hanging around with the experts and learning more about this beautiful state.
