2008 Fair
Mulvane Mountain/Plains Art Fair was June 7 and 8

The 16th annual Mulvane Mountain/Plains Art Fair washeld Saturday, June 7th, and Sunday, June 8th, at Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas.  The event was held on the east side of the campus near Whiting Field House (18th and Washburn).
Hours were 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 7th, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8th.  Tickets were $6.00 at the gate; children 12 and younger were free.  Coupons for $1 off could be downloaded at www.cjonline.com or www.washburn.edu/mulvane
Ninety-two artists from across the country displayed paintings, drawings, prints, photography, jewelry, and works in fiber, glass, wood, bronze, steel, ceramics and textiles.  The fair featured live entertainment, a food and beverage court and a hands-on art project for children.
A free shuttle ran both days to ferry patrons to and from the Art Fair and the Coleman Hawkins Legacy Jazz Festival.  The shuttle hours were 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Musical entertainment was provided by:

Saturday, June 7:
10 a.m. – noon, Pastense, blue grass
Noon – 4 p.m., HoraceScope (Jazz Festival artists)
4 – 6 p.m. Bridges, folk

Sunday, June 8:
Noon – 2 p.m., Pastense, blue grass
2 – 4 p.m., Bridges, folk

The fair is an annual fundraising event for the Mulvane Art Museum and is hosted by the Friends of the Mulvane Art Museum.
2008 Art Fair sponsors included Bartlett & West, Capitol Federal Savings, Kansas Secured Title, Security Benefit Group of Companies, Jones Huyett Partners, Topeka Capital Journal and Washburn University.  Entertainment was sponsored by Capital City Bank.
