Glenn Moore Meadows

As a teenager, Sherri Moore saw her grandparent’s health rapidly decline when they moved from the farm into a nearby city’s nursing home. This lasting childhood impression provided the vision and passion to start Glenn Moore Meadows.

Owned by Sherri and Perry Moore, Glenn Moore Meadows was named after Sherri’s Father-in-law Glenn Moore. The research and planning had started some five years earlier. With the assistance of Sherri’s husband Perry and her friend Phyllis Twombly, basic sketches on a donut napkin turned to architect drawings in Spring 2003. Consulting with the Kansas Department on Aging, they carefully planned and reviewed the design, policies and regulations before opening in June 2004.

In October 2004, soon after opening, Glenn Moore Meadows was featured in the Topeka Capital Journal as a leading elder-care model especially for the aging rural citizens of Kansas.

The eight bedroom home-plus retirement facility has rural home like setting. Each resident has his/her room with a private bathroom. Individual rooms open to a spacious lodge style living room and kitchen/dining area separated by a large distinctive fireplace.

Located in a scenic rural setting, five minutes from Holton, residents can view wildlife, farm crops and seasons of the year from a large accessible deck.

Sherri credits the success of Glenn Moore Meadows to many factors. Prior to the development of the facility, Sherri had 17 years experience with the elderly and Phyllis had 23 years of experience in long term care. Booth women are licensed operators. The Holton and Jackson County community is supportive and receptive of the facility.

Sherri’s husband Perry provides maintenance and upkeep of the facility and Phyllis is a licensed nurse and the Director of Healthcare. Their families and children provide the residents an intergenerational caring environment in a secure and quiet country setting...
