- Health Services Administration
- Medical Imaging
- Associate of Science (AS)
- Health Information Technology
- Physical Therapist Assistant
- Radiologic Technology
- Respiratory Therapy
- Certificate of Completion (C)
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- Health Information Coding
- Radiation Therapy
- Computed Tomography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
What is Allied Health?
Allied Health is a broad field of study encompassing
diverse health
care professions, including clinical laboratory personnel, physical
therapy,
occupational therapy, dietetic services, medical record personnel,
radiologic
services, speech-language pathology and audiology and respiratory
therapy.
It does not include physicians, nurses, dentists, or podiatrists. SOURCE:

Program Information
COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY
Advanced Certificate
The computed tomography (CT) program will prepare a registered radiologic technologist to become registered in CT. The program consists of four didactic classes that consist of CT Procedure Protocols, CT Physics, Cross-Sectional Anatomy, and Pathology correlated with CT. The student will have the opportunity to acquire clinical skills after the completion of the didactic courses. Computed Tomography is a field that is becoming more advanced with quicker and better CT equipment. This program will give students the key fundamentals of CT to become an educated, well-qualified CT technologist.
DIAGNOSTIC
MEDICAL SONOGRAPHY
Advanced Certificate
Medical sonography is comprised of general ultrasound, vascular
ultrasound
and cardiac ultrasound. This field is a rewarding blend of
patient
care with highly sophisticated technology. Ultrasound has grown
immensely
in the last 25 years, and there is a great local and national demand
for
educated and credentialed sonographers.
HEALTH
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Associate of Science degree, Certificate
Changes in health care reimbursement and patient records are creating
more and more openings for accredited health information technicians. This
field combines information management skills with an in-depth health
science
background. Graduates work with vital statistics, coding, medical
audits, utilization review, correspondence and record analysis. A
certificate in health information coding is also offered.
HEALTH
SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
Bachelor of Health Science degree
There is a need for qualified managers in the health care field.
The Bachelor of Health Science (BHS) in Health Services Administration
is designed to provide associate degree health care graduates with
knowledge
and skills in the areas of management and leadership. Completion
of a baccalaureate degree with advanced coursework in management and
related
healthcare issues will make graduates more marketable for
administrative
positions.
MAGNETIC RESONANCE
Advanced Certificate
A registered technologist employed in magnetic resonance or MR does not work with radiation energy, but generates images through the interaction of magnetic fields and radio waves with body tissues. A MR technologist provides optimal patient care while working with digital technology. All applicants must be registered in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy or Sonography.
MEDICAL
IMAGING
Bachelor of Health Science degree
There is an increasing need for qualified medical imaging
technologists.
The completion of a baccalaureate degree with advanced imaging
credentials
make graduates even more marketable for employment opportunities in the
medical imaging field. The medical imaging option allows students
to choose from four concentrations: Computed Tomography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance, and Radiation Therapy.
PHYSICAL
THERAPIST ASSISTANT
Associate of Science degree
Certified Physical Therapist Assistants are employed in a variety of
health care settings. Graduates of this program work under the
supervision
of a Licensed Physical Therapists to provide rehabilitation to
individuals
diagnosed with musculoskeletal injuries due to mechanical, anatomical, physiological and developmental impairments,
functional or other health and movement related conditions. Physical Therapy also includes treatment of
sports related injuries and promotional and maintenance of fitness, health, and quality of life in all age populations.
RADIATION
THERAPY TECHNOLOGY
Advanced Certificate
A radiation therapist performs therapeutic radiation treatments, using sophisticated medical and computer technology and lends emotional support to cancer patients. This is done under the direction of a radiation oncologist and physicist. A radiation therapist may also be involved with the simulation, treatment, planning and dosimetry of a course of radiation therapy treatment. All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program and possess the professional designation of RT(R).
RADIOLOGIC
TECHNOLOGY
Associate of Science degree
Radiographers (x-ray technologists) create x-ray images through a
variety
of imaging procedures. Graduates may work in diagnostic
radiology,
in related areas such as MRI, Cardiac/Interventional, Mammography or CT, or continue their education
in mammography, ultrasound, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, CT, or MRI.
RESPIRATORY
THERAPY
Associate of Science degree
The field of respiratory therapy offers an exciting, challenging and
rewarding career for the future, with a strong employment
outlook.
Utilizing sophisticated biomedical equipment, these allied health
specialists
provide treatment for a variety of diseases affecting the
heart and lungs.
