Here’s a chance for you to help students further their education at Washburn University. Simply participate in the Washburn Alumni Association’s Scholarship Fun Run/Walk. Either run a 5K or enjoy a leisurely 2 mile walk. Bring the entire family! Net proceeds from the Run/Walk benefit the Washburn Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
The Alumni Association Scholarship Fund has been a source of revenue for many Washburn students. Nearly $37,000 in scholarships was awarded to 103 students for the 2010-11 academic year. Special consideration is given to children of alumni, returning alumni or students who are members of the Washburn Alumni Association.
The Course:
5K –Please note the course is on city streets north of the Washburn campus and then on campus streets and sidewalks. Runners will be timed.
2 Mile Walk –Please note the walk will be on perimeter sidewalks on the Washburn campus. Walkers will not be timed.
Race Date: Sat., Sept. 18, 2010
7 a.m. registration, 8:30 a.m. run/walk
Rain or shine -- NO REFUNDS
Registration Fees:
5K - $20 per person
2 Mile Walk - $15 per person; children under age 12 FREE
Early Registration Packet Pickup: Friday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Washburn Alumni Association, 17th and Jewell, Topeka, KS (just pull up front and come inside)
Late Registration: Registrations received after Sept. 6 and race day registrations will be accepted. An additional $5 fee will be charged. T-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrants.
Parking: Free parking is available in the lot south of the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center at 17th and Jewell.
Bag Check: A bag check will be available to store your gear during the run/walk.
Food, Awards and Prizes: Refreshments will be provided after the run/walk inside the Bradbury Thompson Alumni Center. 5K runners will be eligible for awards. First place medals will be given to male and female winners in various age divisions. There will also be drawings for various prizes.
Entry fee must accompany a signed registration form and is non-refundable. Incomplete or unsigned forms will be held for completion on run/walk day. Submit one entry form per person.
Make checks payable to Washburn Endowment Association and mail along with signed registration form(s) to: Washburn Alumni Association, 1700 SW College, Topeka, KS 66621.
Each participant must complete a registration form. Registration deadline: Sept. 3, 2010.
