Wine Tasting in Hermann, MO

Spend the weekend with Washburn alumni and friends tasting wine along the Hermann, Missouri Wine Trail. Before Prohibition, Hermann produced more than one million gallons of wine a year and was home to the nation's second largest winery. Today Hermann-area winemakers are once again producing award- winning wines.
Winding through some of the prettiest scenery in Missouri, the Hermann Wine Trail meanders for some 20 miles along the Missouri River between Hermann and New Haven. Nestled along the trail are seven charming family-owned wineries and two microbreweries.
Board the private motorcoach, sit back and enjoy the ride to Hermann. We’ll leave the Washburn campus at 5 p.m. and will swing through KC and pick up some KC area alumni and friends. We’ll overnight in nearby Warrenton and then spend Saturday and Sunday tasting wine, beer and sausage in Augusta, Hermann and Swiss, Missouri.
Trip Includes
- Private motorcoach from Washburn campus or KC to Hermann, Mo. and return
- Refreshments on board the motorcoach
- Two nights accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express – Warrenton
- Two continental breakfasts included at the Holiday Inn Express
- Private motorcoach to and from all wineries/breweries
- Boxed dinner provided for Friday and Saturday nights
- German-style lunch on Sunday

Itinerary (subject to change)
Aug. 19
5 p.m. – Depart the Washburn campus for Warrenton, Mo.
6:15 p.m. – Stop in KC and pick up more Ichabods
9:30 p.m. – Arrive Warrenton, overnight at Holiday Inn Express
Aug. 20
9:30 a.m. – Depart Warrenton for Augusta. Throughout the day visit the following:
- Blumenhof Winery – tasting
- Augusta Winery – tasting
- Mt. Pleasant Winery – tasting and tour (lunch on your own at the winery’s Appellation Café)
- Swiss Meat and Sausage Co.. – tour and tasting. (We’ll have coolers on board the bus for all your purchases.)
- Time on your own to explore downtown Hermann, Herma
nnhof Winery, Three California Vineyards Tasting Room and Tin Mill Brewery (All located side-by-side.) - Oak Glenn Winery– tasting (Then enjoy boxed dinner and music by, “Badlands.”)
Aug. 21
9 a.m. – depart Warrenton for Hermann. Throughout the day visit the following:
- Stone Hill Winery
- Adam Puchta Winery
- Return to Washburn campus (hope to be in KC around 6 p.m., Topeka around 7 p.m.)
