Day 1, Sunday, May 22 – Depart Kansas City
This morning meet the other members of the group at the Washburn campus before boarding your private motorcoach to take you to the Kansas City International Airport. Check in with the airline ticket counter for a mid morning departure. See tentative flight itinerary.
Overnight: Trans-Atlantic flight
Day 2, Monday, May 23 – Cairo
Arrival at Cairo Airport and transfer to the luxurious Grand Hyatt Hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 3 , Tuesday, May 24 – Cairo, Abu Simbel and Aswan Nile Cruise
Early morning flight to Abu Simbel, where Ramses the Great built his monumental temple. Then, take the short flight to Aswan. Upon arrival, transfer to the Sonesta Moon Goddess nile river cruiser. Nile Cruiser for a 5 day/4 night Nile cruise. After lunch on board, enjoy a leisurely sailing trip on a typical Egyptian "felucca" (sailboat) which glides along the Nile, passing by Lord Kitchener's Botanical Garden and the dramatic white marble Aga Khan Mausoleum. The ship docks in Aswan tonight. (B.L.D)

Day 4 , Wednesday, May 25 - NILE CRUISE - Kom Ombo - Edfu
Morning visit to the Aswan High Dam and the granite quarries where the stone for the ancient monuments and modern dam of Aswan were cut. View the gigantic, unfinished Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut. Continue by motorboat to the beautiful island of Philae to see the exquisite, sandstone Temple of Isis. Sail to Kom Ombo, a hill town overlooking the banks of the Nile. Visit the unique Greco-Roman Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to Horus, the Sun God and Sobek, the Crocodile God. Arrive in Edfu for overnight. (B.L.D)

Day 5 , Thursday, May 26 - NILE CRUISE - Edfu - Luxor
In Edfu, visit the Temple of Horus, the best preserved of all large Egyptian temples. Enjoy a relaxing sail along the Nile, passing quaint villages and towns. Sip afternoon tea before arriving in Luxor, the ancient city of Thebes, for overnight. (B.L.D)

Day 6 , Friday, May 27 - NILE CRUISE - Luxor
Drive past the famed Colossi of Memnon to the Valley of the Queens; see the beautifully terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Then, to the imposing Valley of the Kings containing the secretive tombs of New Kingdom Pharaohs. Afternoon tour of the vast Karnak Temple-Complex, built by generations of Pharaohs over a 2000-year period. Continue to the Avenue of the Sphinxes and the exquisite Temple of Luxor with its grand colonnades. Overnight in Luxor. (B.L.D)

Your cruise ends today. Disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo. Meet and transfer to your hotel. This evening, enjoy the fantastic sound and light show at the Pyramids. Overnight in Cairo. (B)

Day 8 , Sunday, May 29 – Cairo
The day begins with a visit to the world famous Egyptian Museum with its 100,000 objects of art including the Treasures of Tutankhamen and the Mummies Room. Lunch this afternoon at the Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel. After lunch, visit the three great Pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of Giza (also called the Khufu's Pyramid or Pyramid of Cheops), the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is now Cairo, Egypt, and is the only remaining structure of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is believed the pyramid was built as a tomb for Fourth dynasty Egyptian King Khufu (Cheops in Greek) and constructed over a 20 year period. Entrance to one of the Pyramids is included. Stand in awe at The Magnificent Sphinx carved from a single piece of stone, which guards the Giza plateau. The Great Sphinx of Giza is a statue of a reclining lion with a human head that stands on the Giza Plateau. Marvel at the Solar Boat Museum, the oldest known ship in the world, which was uncovered in 1954 after an almost 5,000 year burial. Visit the Karnak Bazaar shop; refreshments await you, the gems will dazzle you. Return to Cairo for overnight. Evening at leisure. (B.L.)

Day 9 , Monday, May 30 - Cairo
Tour to the Citadel of Saladin, also called Al-Qala, a walled fortress on top of a hill in Cairo. In the past it had been the home to Egypt's rulers for about 700 years. Visit the Mosque of Mohammed Ali. Continue to Old Cairo to visit the beautiful Coptic Church and the century-old Ben Ezra Synagogue, the oldest in Egypt. The famous medieval Rabbi Moshe Maimonides worshiped here. Drive to the bustling Khan El-Khalili Bazaar for a shopping spree. Remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy an elegant farewell dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Cairo. (B.D)

Day 10 , Tuesday, May 31 – Travel back to the U.S.
Eat breakfast at the hotel, then board your motorcoach which will take you to the Cairo Airport for your flight home.
