  • UCF Learning Skills Handouts <http://www.sarc.sdes.ucf.edu/studyhandouts.html> Another great site much like the two listed above it on this web page.
  • Assignment Calculator <http://www.lib.umn.edu/help/calculator> If you have a paper to do, plug in your due date and this web site will lay out what you need to do each day in order to complete your work in a timely manner.  It even has general subjects you can click on that lead you to reference links you might find helpful to your topic.
  • How to Study <http://www.howtostudy.org/> Studying for that big test? Wish you had more time? Wish you could remember what you had read? Do you need to know how to study biology or psychology? This site is for you.
  • Visuwords <http://www.visuwords.com> - free online graphical dictionary and thesaurus. It provides parts of speech information as well. Give it a try!
  • Yahoo Reference <http://education.yahoo.com/reference> A great place to go to access:  American Heritage Dictionary, Roget's Thesaurus, Britannica Concise, Bartlett's Familiar Quotations, Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body, The Oxford Shakespeare, and the World Factbook.
  • Refdesk.com <http://www.refdesk.com>  This site is literally a reference desk online.  It has hundreds of links to just about anything.  It is also searchable.
  • One Look Dictionary <http://www.onelook.com/> This site has many different dictionaries you can use (general, by various subjects/disciplines, and a "reverse" dictionary).
  • Learn To Type <http://learn2type.com> This is a wonderful site that helps to enhance your typing skills.
  • Sparknotes.com <http://www.sparknotes.com>  Awesome site that has summaries and information on lots of topics in the following categories:  Literature, Astronomy, Poetry, History, Biology, Biography, Computer Science, Shakespeare, Philosophy, Economics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Health and Nutrition, AND has a dictionary & thesaurus on the main page.
  • Standarddeviants.com <http://www.standarddeviants.com>  This is NOT just a math site.  It bills itself as "fast-paced, fresh site so smart, crazy and fun, you’ll actually forget you’re learning. The award-winning Standard Deviants digest and dissect subjects ranging from Shakespeare to Spanish to the Internet.  Just click on any subject to get your free resources including video streaming, downloadable tests and quizzes, puzzles and games and helpful cards!"
  • Reducing Test Anxiety <http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/PRAXIS/pdf/01361anxiety.pdf> This brief booklet has great tips on how to approach taking an exam. It is geared for students taking the Praxis I exam, but it has great practical information for any student concerned about test anxiety. This link appears in PDF form.
  • APlusMath Flashcards <http://www.aplusmath.com/Flashcards/index.html> This website provides online flashcard review for you. Click on the Algebra link to practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication algebra problems.
  • Virtual Math Lab <http://www.wtamu.edu/academic/anns/mps/math/mathlab/> "If you need help in College Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Beginning Algebra, or preparing for the math part of the THEA, ACCUPLACER or general GRE  test, you have come to the right place."
  • Quick Math help <http://www.quickmath.com> A free site with many helpful resources.  If you're stuck on a problem, check out this web site.
  • Webmath <http://www.webmath.com/> Webmath offers math homework help and math word problems.  This site helps you solve problems and explains the process to you.
  • General Algebra Search Site <http://www.purplemath.com/index.htm>
  • Math Homework Help <http://users.adelphia.net/~mathhomeworkhelp/> Find assistance with Algebra I and II, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus I and II. Also find additional math-related links.
  • The Periodic Table <http://www.webelements.com/> Here is the familiar periodic table from chemistry class, but this site also allows you to click on all of the elements and learn more about each of them.  Some elements even have quicktime movies. 
  • Human Anatomy Online <http://www.innerbody.com/>  An interesting interactive site with lots of information!
  • Gray's Anatomy <http://bartleby.com/107/>  The Bartleby.com edition of Gray’s Anatomy of the Human Body features 1,247 vibrant engravings—many in color—from the classic 1918 publication, as well as a subject index with 13,000 entries ranging from the Antrum of Highmore to the Zonule of Zinn.
  • Medical Terminology <http://ec.hku.hk/mt/> This Medical Terminology website (from the University of Hong Kong) is designed primarily for students majoring in dentistry, medicine, and nursing.The pages show a selected list of the frequently found terms that students may encounter in their readings and lectures. The lists and exercises are not meant to be comprehensive. The purpose of this website is to help students recognize technical terms and later actively use this vocabulary.
  • Medical Dictionary - <http://www.medterms.com/script/main/hp.asp> It is what it says.
  • Physics 2000 <http://www.Colorado.EDU/physics/2000/index.pl> Physics 2000 is an interactive journey through modern physics! Have fun learning visually and conceptually about 20th Century science and high-tech devices.
  • National Center for Biotechnology Information <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/  A good site for biology students.  Its home page states:  "Established in 1988 as a national resource for molecular biology information, NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease. "
  • The Biology Project <http://www.biology.arizona.edu>  An online interactive resource for learning biology.  This has lots of information on Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemicals and Human Health, Developmental Biology, Human Biology, Immunology, Mendelian Genetics, and Molecular Biology.
  • American Memory from the Library of Congress <http://lcweb2.loc.gov/ammem/ammemhome.html>  A very interesting site to visit each day, but a "must see" site for American History students. Its web site description: 
    American Memory is a gateway to rich primary source materials relating to the history and culture of the United States. The site offers more than 7 million digital items from more than 100 historical collections.
  • Foreign Language Learning Homepage <http://www.foreignlanguagehome.com> Find tips for learning a foreign language.
  • Help With MLA Citations <http://www.westga.edu/~library/depts/liaison/english/mla.shtml>  Just fill in the blanks and this site sets up the format for you!  Note: when you "cut and paste" the citation into your paper, you will have to underline relevant titles again.
  • The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing <http://nutsandbolts.washcoll.edu> This site has multiple links for helping you write a paper.
  • Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) <http://owl.english.purdue.edu> This is a great place to learn about all things English related, has handouts and reference materials.
  • Index to the Guide to Grammar and Writing <http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/index2.htm> A great combination of information found in the previous two websites! Make sure you scroll to the very bottom of the page to officially access the Guide to Grammar and Writing.
  • Library Research at Cornell <http://www.library.cornell.edu/okuref/research/tutorial.html> This site helps with your research papers in various areas like topic selection and organization.
  • World eBook Library <http://netlibrary.net/WorldHome.html> This site states  you can read or download thousands of books online. It also has an interesting reference collection that may be helpful to you.
  • Common Errors in English <http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/errors.html> This site can answer and explain those grammar concerns that may come up for you over things like this: "Do I use 'effect' or 'affect'?"  Be sure to scroll all the way down the page for additional reference resources.
  • Washburn Writers Program <http://www.washburn.edu/wwp> Writing is fundamental to every good education and Washburn University supports every facet of student writing. To that end, the university created the Washburn Writers Program. This pilot program that will begin working actively with students in the Spring '04 semester. With both a curricular and extracurricular component, the program draws on writing fellows programs at other universities, but adds some uniquely Washburn elements of its own.

  • Free Book Notes.com <http://www.freebooknotes.com/>  Free book notes, summaries, and study guides.
  • Art History Resources on the Web <http://witcombe.sbc.edu/ARTHLinks.html>  This is an amazing site that includes everything you ever needed to know about art history.  It is maintained by a professor at Sweet Briar College in Virginia.

  • Washburn University's Financial Aid Office <http://www.washburn.edu/financial-aid> This is the place to start regarding financial aid information for Washburn students.
  • FAFSA online <http://www.fafsa.ed.gov>  Make filling out a FAFSA form much easier on the web.  Filing for student aid has never been easier.
  • Finaid <http://www.finaid.org/>  Very thorough introduction to college funding.  Information on scholarships, loans, military aid, plus tips on filling out forms, and financial aid calculators.
  • Fastweb <http://www.fastweb.com>  Lets you search for scholarships based on student's profile.  Takes time, but time is money.
  • Scholarships 101 <http://www.scholarships101.com>  Information on scholarships; includes a searchable database.  Great links page.  Easy to use.
  • The Foundation Center <http://www.fdncenter.org>  Lists private and public foundations for grants and scholarships.  Mildly useful.
  • Kansas Computer Recycling Company <http://www.kansascrc.com> This site offers discount computers and also recycles old ones.
