1. Richard Martin called the meeting to order.
2. Transformational Experience: Much discussion was held on the Transformational Experience proposal. Concern was expressed about the ability of administration to meet faculty workload in supervising students for this experience. The committee supports the spirit of the proposal and recommends that the VPAA conduct a time/cost analysis of implementation of the transformational experience. The committee also recommends that the proposal be given to a faculty committee for further review. Bill Roach will be asked to design a letter with the recommendations to be sent to the VPAA.
3. Faculty Senate Proposal: Discussion was held on the Faculty Senate Proposal. Two forums are being scheduled for faculty to provide input. All faculty are encouraged to participate.
4. Membership: Discussion was held on increasing membership to the WU AAUP and the national AAUP. Currently there are about 10% of WU faculty on the WU membership list. All members are encouraged to invite nonmembers to meetings.
5. Treasurer Report: There is $919.00 in the account. It was recommended that WU AAUP finance a subscription of Academe for the regents.
6. Pool Proposal: Discussion was held on the proposal by HPEE to preserve the pool at WU to support continued courses that utilize the pool. Bill Roach will be asked to send a memo to the VPAA stating that WU AAUP supports the proposal.
