February 15, 2005
1. The Faculty Senate proposal was discussed. It will go to the Board of Regents on March 11, 2005. Several members plan to attend this meeting.
2. Discussion was held on use of Lee Arena. No action was taken
3. Discussion was held on increasing enrollment. Concerns discussed included:
a. increased need for fulltime faculty
b. faculty workload
c. limited office space
d. limited student lounge/gathering space
e. limited classrooms and classrooms that accommodate large class sizes
f. admission criteria
4. Discussion of At Large candidates for Faculty Senate. AAUP hopes that one member from each school/college will be interested in running as an At Large candidate. The VP is considering holding a mixer/reception so that faculty can meet those who are running for these positions. The AAUP will speak with potential candidates about self nomination.
5. AAUP membership remains consistently low. A mixer/reception will be considered for 4/1/05 at the International House.
6. Bill Roach will create a survey on availability on instructional support supplies. After review by the committee, he will distribute it to faculty.
7. The Conflict of Interest draft was discussed. Many members have not seen the draft. Richard will forward copies. Bill will send an email to the VPAA requesting a public meeting on the draft.
Respectfully submitted,
Shirley Dinkel
