Research Guidelines

DO

• Indicate in your notes which ideas are your own and which are taken from sources.
• You may photocopy small portions of a copyrighted work in order to do research.
• Assume that anything you can find on the Internet your instructor can find as well.
• Assume everything you read on the Internet is false unless it is verified by a library source.
• Cite works using established citation rules.

DON'T 

• Do not buy, steal, or borrow a research paper or report.
• Do not plagiarize.
• Do not include quotes if you can’t verify the original source.
• Do not photocopy a photocopy on reserve in the library.
• Do not include images (photos, cartoons, artwork) in your term paper / project unless you have obtained the right to use them.
