The Transformational Experience in Jamaica Program is a nine day, international experience tutoring children in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, West Indies. Not only will you touch the lives of the local children but you will develop a deeper understanding of teaching and learning for your future career as a teacher. Studying abroad provides opportunities for you to better understand other cultures while providing a transformational experience. Studying abroad helps you appreciate how others live and learn and gives opportunities to perfect your skills in diverse settings.

Join Washburn University's Department of Education in a unique volunteering experience in Belize!

The Study Abroad in Belize Program is an 11 day experience from December 29, 2012-January 8, 2013, volunteering in Belize, Central America. Washburn University students interact with local Belizean adults and children at orphanages. This study abroad program offers a diverse experience for students to encounter a different and unique culture. Planned experiences include a Mayan ruins/temples tour and interactions with teachers and other educators at the Belizean International Symposium on Education. Several optional group excursions, include a 45 minute offshore water taxi ride to San Pedro, a small island in the Ambergris Caye; snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea; sunbathing at the beach; kayaking through the rain forest; horseback riding and visiting a butterfly reserve.
