Accessibility Instruction Page for Visitors

Welcome to the Washburn University official web site. At this time, Washburn University is incorporating into our official web site accessibility standards issued by the federal access board on December 22, 2000 using our Washburn University Official Web Sites--Accessibility and Quality Checklist.

We are pleased to provide an alternative medium for accessing information about our programs and services. If you have any suggestions for improving the accessibility features of our web site, please contact Eileen Brouddus.

Instructions for users who are color blind

If you encounter any page which is difficult to read due to color contrast issues, please report this by calling 785-670-2301 or sending mail to Eileen Brouddus.

Instructions for users with other visual disabilities

Our alphabetical index and search page assist in finding information more quickly.

If there is any information (or form) that is not accessible, please call 785-670-2301 or send email to Eileen Brouddus.

We recommend Ai Squared's ZoomText Magnifier/Reader or Freedom Scientific's JAWS for Windows for screen reading. These programs read all the content of your screen including menus and dialogs. For more information on each of these products, refer to their respective links.

Some of our online documents are in portable document format (.pdf). To read these documents, download Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Instructions for users who are deaf or hard of hearing

We provide some Real Audio files on our server, and are incorporating the SMIL format into these audio files to provide for captioning and/or text transcripts.

If you encounter a Real file which does not have alternative text for the audio portion, please call 785-670-2301 or send email to Eileen Brouddus.

Evaluate Accessibility at Washburn

Washburn University is conducting a self-study of its facilities and programs with regard to accessibility for persons with disabilities. While Washburn is not required to have every facility totally accessible, it is required to have accessibility to services, programs and activities. Please complete a short survey to assist the committee in it's evaluation.
