DSST (DANTES)

The DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST) credit by exam program gives individuals the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside of the traditional college classroom.

DSST exams can help you save TIME and MONEY.

A satisfactory score on a DSST exam can earn you 3 college credits.

At $100, a DSST exam is a fraction of the tuition for a college course.

How to Register:

Schedule an appointment for an exam by contacting the Center for Prior Learning and Testing at testing@washburn.edu or 785.670.1227. You will register and pay for the exam in the testing center at your appointed time. Card payments only.

Cost:

$100 plus $25.63 administration fee = $125.63 total.

Detailed instructions for paying the Administration Fee will be sent to you in your testing appointment confirmation. The testing fee will be charged during the registration process.

Note – Eligible military service members or eligible spouses are funded by DANTES and are not required to pay the testing fee, see DANTES Funding Guide

Items to Bring:

Current government-issued identification that includes your photo and signature
Payment for exam. Card payments only.

Note - 2 forms of ID are required for military/veteran students including a military ID.
Individuals may not test without appropriate identification.

Format of the exam:

Computerized, 1 ½ - 2 hours in length
Note – Some exams may include an essay, which is written by paper/pencil
