Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

Sociology is the “study of social life, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior,” according to the American Sociological Association website ( Since all human behavior is social, the subject matter of sociology ranges:

  • from a family with a sick child to health care costs;
  • from television cartoons to gender-role expectations;
  • from “latchkey” kids to juvenile delinquency;
  • from the food we eat to cultural identity;
  • from community engagement to global awareness;
  • from asylum seekers to immigration policy

Our Sociology program will provide you with skills that appeal to a wide range of employers who specifically recruit social science and liberal arts majors.
