Payment Deadlines

All tuition and fee charges must be paid, or a payment plan set up, by the published “last day to pay without a late fee” in order to avoid penalties. The payment deadlines for the 2013-2014 academic year are:

Student responsibilities

  • If you expect to receive financial aid, check to be sure it has been released to your account by the payment deadline.
  • If your aid is delayed because your FAFSA was not submitted on time, or other requirements were not completed on time, you are still obligated to meet the payment deadline.
  • If your aid is late for another reason beyond your control the late charge will be waived if you have paid by the deadline  any balance not covered by the financial aid.
  • Payment for classes enrolled in after the payment deadline is due upon enrollment.

 If your bill isn’t paid on time

  • The Business Office will place a “hold” on your account. This prevents the release of your transcript or diploma and prevents continued or future enrollment.
  • The “hold” is not removed until your bill has been paid in full.
  • A late fee may be charged. The amount of that fee is determined by the number of credit hours you are enrolled in. See the table below for details.

  • If you believe you should not be charged a late fee, request a  request a Late Fee Waiver To qualify for a late fee waiver, you must demonstrate that the failure to settle the account balance in a timely manner was due to an error on the part of Washburn University. Late fee waiver requests must be submitted in the same term in which the late fee is charged.
