Application to the Early Acceptance Pathway for the Harmony Hines School of Nursing for May 2027 high school graduates

Washburn's Harmony J. Hines School of Nursing offers an Early Acceptance Pathway (EAP) to qualified high school seniors. Students accepted to the EAP are granted admission to our nursing school in their preferred semester, rather than competing in the traditional application pool after prerequisite courses are completed. The application form below can be submitted by members of the class of 2027 beginning August 1, 2026. The latest the application can be submitted is July 31, 2027. Complete applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning January 15, 2027. To be accepted to the EAP, students must:

  1. Complete Washburn University's general undergraduate application.
  2. Declare Pre-Nursing as intended major.
  3. Have a high school unweighted GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application and maintain through graduation.
  4. Complete the Early Acceptance Pathway application (below), including written statement.
  5. Sign acknowledgment of professional aptitudes, abilities, skills, and essential requirements for nursing.
  6. Obtain one reference statement from an employer, high school counselor, or high school science instructor using our online reference form.
  7. Upload an unofficial high school transcript showing final Fall 2026 grades to application portal (or send official transcript with fall grades to etranscripts@washburn.edu).
  8. Send an official transcript showing final Spring 2027 grades and graduation to Washburn University (etranscripts@washburn.edu).

Students who are accepted to the EAP will receive communication at the email address listed on the below application. EAP students must complete remaining nursing school prerequisite courses and general education requirements upon high school graduation at Washburn University with a grade of C or higher and maintain a GPA of 2.7 or higher in order to maintain EAP acceptance.
