Transfer My Credits

A sneak peek at how your courses might transfer
There are two ways to unofficially see how your courses will transfer:
- Use the Transfer Guide to simplify the transfer process and help you with planning your upcoming semesters. Discover which credits will transfer to Washburn, and how close you are to earning your degree.
- Use the Transfer My Credits Portal to simplify the transfer process and help you with planning your upcoming semesters. Discover which credits will transfer to Washburn, and how close you are to earning your degree.
- Courses not listed might still transfer to Washburn.
Official evaluations are processed by the University Registrar's Office after you have been admitted to Washburn University and submitted all final official transcripts from each college or university you have attended.
To be considered official, transcripts must arrive at Washburn via the United States Postal Service from the institution that issues them. Washburn accepts official electronic transcripts at etranscripts@washburn.edu. Faxed transcripts are not considered official.
Mailed transcripts should be sent to:

If you are transferring to Washburn University or another Kansas public university with at least 45 transfer credit hours (at least 15 from one institution) from a Kansas public community college or technical college (or vice versa) you are eligible for the Kansas Board of Regents Reverse Transfer program. This allows you to earn any associate's degree for which you’re eligible as you earn additional certificates and degrees.
Within your first semester at Washburn, you will be notified if you meet the eligibility criteria and which classes you will need to complete to finish the degree. Upon completion of the coursework, Washburn will send a Washburn transcript to the college or university you are eligible for the program through, and the degree will be awarded.
Visit the Kansas Board of Regents Transfer & Articulation website for more information.
A growing list of courses have been guaranteed to transfer among all Kansas higher education institutions through the Kansas Board of Regents.

The major department makes the determination regarding whether your transfer courses can be used to satisfy major requirements. You can review the extensive list of courses which have already been approved by the major department. Only those courses which do not appear on the list need to be evaluated by the department.
Courses completed at a college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting organizations which have been designated by the sending institution as general education courses will transfer to Washburn University as courses within the appropriate general education distribution area without further review.
If you have completed a technical certificate from a college accredited by one of the six regional accrediting organizations, you may transfer up to 48 credit hours of earned technical certificate course credit to apply to degrees at Washburn University. Courses completed as a component of an earned associate’s degree beyond the technical program certificate requirements will be evaluated by the appropriate department at Washburn University and, based on that evaluation, may transfer to partially fulfill the core or general education requirements for Washburn programs.
You may appeal decisions about the transferability of major courses through the appropriate department chair. Be prepared to provide supporting documents, such as course syllabi, course descriptions, or examples of your work. The department chair’s decision is final.
If you are transferring courses from a technical college or courses that were not considered general education from another higher education institution that you believe meet the spirit and intent of Washburn's general education criteria, you may fill out a General Education Transfer Course Petition with your academic advisor.
The form should then be submitted to the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will make a decision within 1 to 2 weeks of receiving all of the required information.
You can appeal decisions on the transferability of general education courses through the General Education Committee, and the committee’s decisions can be appealed to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, whose decision will be final.
Partnerships & pathways
Articulated transfer agreements are arrangements between Washburn and one or more HLC-accredited institutions in which the institutions involved agree to provide or accept some portion of educational programs offered by Washburn.
The department of Allied Health in the School of Applied Studies has partnered with the University of Nebraska Medical Center to increase the number of clinical laboratory scientists in the health care profession since 2015. Through this articulated agreement, Washburn students can earn a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science.
The UNMC program provides clinical laboratory education, including instruction and curriculum components, both didactic and clinical education, as defined and required in the accreditation standards of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
For more information, contact Michelle Shipley in the Allied Health department.
Since 1990, the College of Arts and Sciences at Washburn has co-operated 3+2 programs with both the University of Kansas and Kansas State University. Through this articulated agreement, Washburn students earn a bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Students typically attend Washburn for three years, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics or Mathematics before finishing their degree at either the University of Kansas or Kansas State, majoring in a specific field within that institution’s College of Engineering.
For more information, contact Pre-Engineering Coordinator Keith Mazachek.
The School of Computing and Engineering Dual Degree Program agreement enables Washburn students to earn both a bachelor's degree from Washburn and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, or information technology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Students must complete two years at Washburn before applying to the SCE Dual Degree Program, and applications are jointly assessed by Washburn and UMKC. Admitted students receive guidance from both institutions.
Students may spend either three or four years at Washburn, then complete the program as a degree-seeking transfer student with two years of full-time study at UMKC.
For more information, contact Pre-Engineering Coordinator Keith Mazachek or Karen Othmer in the Computer Science Information department.
The Law Early Admission Program (LEAP) is an agreement between the Washburn School of Law and Baker University that reduces the number of years spent on combined undergraduate and law education, lowers the total cost and allows earlier entry into the job market.
The LEAP program is offered to academically talented and highly motivated undergraduate students at Baker, and allows Baker’s undergraduate students early entry into law school by enrolling at Washburn Law on a “3+3 years” or “3½+3 years” track. The affiliation, which began in 2016, is structured to assist these students with their preparation for law school and pairs students early with law faculty and attorney mentors.
As part of the agreement, Baker agrees to accept and transfer credit earned at the Washburn School of Law to satisfy undergraduate requirements at Baker.
For more information, contact Washburn School of Law Associate Dean Aida Alaka.
In order to address the need for access to quality legal services in Kansas’ rural communities, Washburn University School of Law and Kansas State University worked together to create the Rural Legal Practice Initiative in the summer of 2016 for select Kansas State declared pre-law students.
The initiative provides students with an array of benefits, including specialized mini-seminars, exposes students to the wide variety of careers available in rural communities for individuals with a legal education, and is designed to provide for experiential learning (mentoring opportunities, immersion trips, etc).
For participation in these enrichment activities, Kansas State pre-law students can earn a recognition certificate.
For more information, contact Aida Alaka, the associate dean of the Washburn School of Law.
