$5,000 Nursing scholarships for future Kansas nurses

Nursing is more than a career — it's a calling that shapes the future of care. Through a partnership with WIBW, The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, Kan., is proud to support the next generation of nurses by awarding four $5,000 scholarships to Washburn University students.

By supporting nursing education, the St. Francis Campus in Topeka helps empower future caregivers with the knowledge, skills and dedication needed to provide exceptional care.

What you'll need to apply

Students who are passionate about learning, committed to serving others and dedicated to a career in nursing are encouraged to apply. Application forms along with detailed instructions will be posted soon!

3.5 or higher GPA

You must have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher.

1 Letter of recommendation

Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor or employer.

500-Word essay

Write a 500-word essay on how you plan to use your Washburn education to make a positive impact in your community.

To receive the scholarship, you must:
  • Apply and be accepted into Washburn University
  • Apply and be accepted into Washburn's Harmony J. Hines School of Nursing
  • Start in the School of Nursing for the Spring 2027 semester.
  • Enroll in full time credit hours (12+)
  • Understand this is a non-renewable, one time only scholarship applied to the Spring 2027 semester.
