Surgical Technology Associate Degree

Pursuing a career as a Surgical Technologist requires candidates to have an associate of applied science degree. The affiliation between Washburn University and Washburn Tech offers a convenient way to make that happen! Follow these steps to prepare yourself for this exciting field:

Complete your general education requirements at Washburn University and Washburn Tech.
Apply to Washburn Tech's Surgical Technology program.
Once accepted, complete the 49-credit hour program of hands-on training on the Washburn Tech campus and in clinicals.
Receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Surgical Technology from Washburn Tech.
Pass the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) exam.

Program Handbook

To be accepted into Washburn Tech's Surgical Technology program, you first must complete all prerequisites. Students are required to take 18-credit hours of prerequisites in addition to 49-credit hours at Washburn Tech to complete an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Surgical Technology.

You must score a minimum of 5 in math and 6 in reading on the Accuplacer test to enroll in the Surgical Technology program at Washburn Tech. Once you have completed the 49-credit hour program, you will be prepared to take the national certification exam.

Accuplacer Testing Schedule

Upon completion of the associate of applied science degree, you will be well-prepared to enter the workforce.

Upon completion of the Associate of Applied Science Degree of Surgical Technology, you will be prepared to pursue a Bachelor of Health Science Degree at Washburn University.
