Step into the spotlight with theatre scholarships

At Washburn, we believe in nurturing your theatrical dreams while making them financially feasible through our exciting scholarship opportunities. We know that pursuing your dreams might sometimes feel like a tightrope act, which is why we offer scholarships designed to support and uplift talented individuals like you. Whether you're an incoming freshman, a transfer student, or an existing member of our community, there's a scholarship opportunity tailored to your unique talents and aspirations. Work study positions are also available.

Scholarships are available for students of all majors.

Scholarship auditions

To be eligible for theatre scholarships you must:

  • be enrolled full-time and take at least three hours of theatre courses per semester
  • maintain a 2.0 overall GPA and a 2.5 GPA in theatre courses
  • participate in all productions as assigned (non-performance assignments require a minimum 30 hour commitment per show)

How to apply

Scholarship auditions will be held February 7, 2025. Video auditions are also accepted and have a priority deadline of 12:00 p.m. on February 7, 2025. Please contact for more information on the video submission process.

To apply:

  • Technical theatre students: You will present a portfolio of prior work in an approximately two-minute presentation. You may choose the portfolio medium that is appropriate to communicate your technical expertise.
  • Acting students: You will prepare a two minute audition of either two contrasting monologues or one monologue and a song. You are allotted a total time of two minutes. Please bring sheet music for accompanist (no recorded accompaniment).
  • Musical theatre students: You will prepare two contrasting musical theatre songs and a short (45-60 second) monologue. Musical selections should fit within 2 minutes. Please cut numbers accordingly. Please bring sheet music for accompanist. If auditioning via video, the musical selections must be recorded with accompaniment. No a cappella auditions will be considered.

Fall Production Auditions

Theatre productions are open to all students, regardless of major or year.

  • August 22, 2024: 5:30pm
  • August 23, 2024: 4:00pm
